Swatting flies is fun

You've got to love the Japanese. The wonderful crackpot ideas they come up completely belie their stolid cultural visage. They take comedy so very seriously, the jokes become a matter of national pride.

Mosquito is a brand new addition to the App Store straight from the Land of the Rising Pun that lampoons the iPhone in the most amusing way. A sound based game, it requires you to don your headphones and listen for the mosquito buzzing around your head. Then, as Mr Miyagi did with the chopsticks, you've to test your insectoid reactions and splat the bug by swatting it with the handset.

The fact that it's practically pointless only adds to the hilarity when you squish that first bug, and although the novelty's probably quite short-lived, you can continue to enjoy it vicariously as you watch other people flapping the iPhone around with a childish giggle.

It might be full of insects, but it's certainly not repellent.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
