Despite working on arguably the softest, cutest gaming console available, Texan studio Renegade Kid (which bought us the disturbing asylum-based shooter Dementium: The Ward) is up to its usual tricks.

Literally up, up and away.

Its next game, which was operating under the working title Project M has finally been unveiled by publisher Mastiff as Moon: a sci-fi first-person action-adventure based around the goings on when a sealed, alien hatch is discovered, and opened, during construction of a new lunar base in the year 2058.

Don't expect the spaceman and E.T. to sit down and have a nice cup of tea, though.

"Moon is dark, twisted, heart pounding, frequently violent and always disturbing. Pretty much what you'd expect when you take madmen like Renegade Kid, jack their technology up to the next level, and turn them loose," commented Bill Swartz, head woof of publisher Mastiff.

"Moon demonstrates the impressive power of Nintendo DS, while appealing to a crowd that's looking for a first-person action-adventure title that delivers a menacing story and really puts your gaming skills to the test," added Jools Watsham, owner and creative director at Renegade Kid.

He doesn't make it sound as exciting as his publisher's description, but we suspect he's being modest. Based on Dementium, we'll happily go with Swartz's description of Moon and look forward to getting our hands on it.
