Glu has snapped up the rights to make a mobile game based on Monsters vs Aliens, an animated movie due out in cinemas next March.

The film (it says here) "reinvents the classic '50s monster movie into an irreverent modern day action comedy". Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Seth Rogen and Kiefer Sutherland all provide their voices for the film.

Plenty of scope for a game, then, although hopefully Glu will inject a bit more pizzazz into it than the recent The Dark Knight. Then again, Glu will be hoping that Monsters vs Aliens sells more cinema tickets than Speed Racer did.

It's the second time Glu has partnered with studio DreamWorks Animation SKG, as the publisher is due to release the mobile game of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa this November.
