Mediatonic preps Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess for PSP Minis

Perhaps best known for its iPhone game Must.Eat.Birds., London studio Mediatonic is branching out into the world of PSP Minis (and PS3) with the also strangely-named Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess!

Described as an upwards-scrolling platformer, you have to chase down giant fleeing monsters and subdue them by crashing into them three times.

As you touch platforms on the way up they will build up a combo, delighting the character you control - the massively powerful and slightly unhinged aristocratic demon known as The Duke - and increasing his speed, enabling him to unleash increasingly over-the-top finishing moves when he defeats the monsters.

There are 24 levels spread across six worlds as you try to get back your princess, who you think has been stolen by said monsters (probably).

And thanks to animated cut scenes and the soundtrack, the whole game is said to weigh in at around 95MB, near the 100MB limit required of PSP Minis.

"There is a lot of room for growth in the Minis section of the PlayStation Store and we truly hope that MPSMP will stand out as the fresh, original and fun title that it is," said Mediatonic's co-founder and creative director Paul Croft.

"It's a massively exciting game for us and we hope that our players will enjoy playing it as much as we've enjoyed creating it. We've had a lot of experience in developing browser-based and iPhone titles, but this is the most ambitious game we've attempted."

Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess! is due to be released in February.
