Coronation Street mobile game on the way?

It's always seemed strange to us that mobile publishers have focused on game shows when signing up TV brands for release here in the UK.

Okay, so Deal Or No Deal has been such a huge success, it's understandable that other TV quizzers have followed. But other shows have big audiences and devoted followings too.

For example, why no mobile games based on Hollyoaks, Eastenders or Coronation Street? Actually, that last one just became a distinct possibility.

Licensing agency AT New Media has announced a deal to become the in-house new media licensing consultancy for ITV's Granada Ventures division. They'll be in charge of assigning various of ITV's TV brands for interactive games on various platforms.

Included are Corrie, Emmerdale, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Take Away, Thunderbirds and the Carry On films.

AT New Media has history in the mobile games industry - CEO Paul Comben used to work at I-play, and has had a hand in several big mobile branding deals since launching his own licensing agency.
