No one likes Euro 2008. We don't care.

At least, that's what us English fans will be singing this summer, as the best nations in Europe play each other, while our boys feel suitably ashamed at home (or on exclusive beach resorts).

However, England's failure to qualify hasn't put EA Mobile off releasing the official Euro 2008 game here. It's called UEFA Euro 2008, and it's out next month.

Besides enabling you to enter the tournament itself, you can play the My UEFA Euro 2008 mode, which lets you start from scratch at the qualifying stages (i.e. right the wrongs perpetrated by Steve McClaren).

In our first story about the game, we mentioned EA Mobile's plans for a single-button control system. Well, we've played the game now, and can give more information.

Basically, it involves 'micro-games' that happen whenever you're about to shoot, tackle, cross, stepover or hit a through ball. They involve stopping a white bar at the correct point to succeed.

It's an intriguing idea, which may make the game more accessible to novice gamers, but might also peeve experienced football game fans. That's something we'll be exploring in our review, once we've had a proper playtest.

Anyway, the rest will be familiar if you've played FIFA 08 on mobile, so it's an isometric viewpoint, and real player names a-go-go. Click 'Track It!' for an alert when our review is published.
