First shots and details of The Spiderwick Chronicles

Earlier this week, we reported on Vivendi Games Mobile's line-up for the first half of 2008, which included a game based on The Spiderwick Chronicles, the upcoming film.

Well, we've just laid our hands on screenshots and more details of the title. Turns out you're able to control five different characters from the Spiderwick world: siblings Jared, Simon and Mallory Grace, or the creatures Hogsqueal and Thimbletack.

Thimbletack's a rubbish name for a monster, we have to say. More effort needed there, film fellas.

So, the game itself is an adventure, where you wander through various environments acting, talking to people, and looking at things. That's your choice of three actions, anyway.

Oh, and you can fight too, with a one-thumb combat system that enables you to wield baseball bats, swords and broomsticks. Separately, obviously.

Goblins, trolls, ogres and snakes will all be getting in the way of your weapons, while there's a secret boss to tackle too. The game's due out next month.
