Swine Foo Fighting

Your first thought may be that 'swine foo' sounds incredibly similar to 'swine flu.' Before you ask: it's deliberate.

Your second thought may be that its piggy logo looks suspiciously like that of a certain Dreamworks film starring Jack Black as a panda. Once again, you'd be right. However, I'm unsure just how blatant that resemblance was supposed to be.

Either way, Fugumobile's title certainly puts a spin on the usual martial arts fare.

Mystery meat

Following the H1N1 swine flu outbreak, Swine Foo Fighting takes a tongue-and-cheek approach to the situation. Strangely, you take up the role of a Mexican pig throwing shuriken at medical staff.

You're tasked with defending the Three Little Pigs from doctors, surgeons, and nurses as they attempt to take them away for experimentation in search of a cure.

Doctor's orders

It's all very simple to play, with the '4' and '6' keys moving you left and right as you fire off shuriken at oncoming enemies.

You're required to press the '1', '2', and '3' keys in correspondence with the medical staff member who heads your way down the screen. Obviously this adds a much-needed layer of depth to play, making things harder as levels become faster and more furious.

But beyond an increasing need for dexterity, there isn't an awful lot more to keep you occupied.

Swine Foo Fighting

Bizarre, enjoyable, and sometimes frantic, Swine Foo Fighting is a bit of fun for high-score chasers, but ultimately this is a shallow experience
