If you're going to use Tetris as inspiration for your mobile game, at least do it well. Telcogames' Super Drop Mania, which has been developed by its internal studio, Fathammer, looks like it's taken that maxim to heart.

The game, which is available for smartphones, sees you swapping pairs of coloured blocks at the top of the screen, before dropping them on to the ones below. The aim is to make big swathes of same-coloured blocks disappear below a Clear line so as to move on to the next level.

It makes more sense than the above description when you play it, trust us. And although it's a resolutely 2D title, being a smartphone game means the graphics look top-notch, and the sound effects are decent, too.

Fathammer actually developed Super Drop Mania a while ago but, with Telcogames having acquired the studio, it's getting another push (helped by the fact that operators are now more willing to sell large smartphone titles). Stand by for a review…
