Proving that traditional ways of getting innovative games onto mobile phones aren't yet dead, Sony Ericsson has signed a deal with German publisher HandyGames to pre-install two games on its Yari handset.

Both Snowboard Rush and Hamster Hustle use GestureTek's technology, in which players control game characters using their body movement in front of the mobile phone's camera.

In addition, the two games can be downloaded from the PlayNow Arena for free.

"We've proven that there is a dimension of mobile game play other than using old fashioned navigation keys and touch controls," says Markus Kassulke, CEO and head of production at HandyGames.

"It is an entirely new experience and a lot of fun to play a mobile game by crouching, jumping or twisting in front of your mobile phone camera."

"HandyGames as a technology leader and with its passion for mobile games is the perfect partner for Sony Ericsson to bring unique and innovative applications to our future mobile phones." says Sara Ponnert, Sony Ericsson's partner manager for games.
