OWLS OF MINERVA

Civilization 6 secret societies - Owls of Minerva

Owls of Minerva is the famous Secret Society in Civilization 6 that can be unlocked by sending an Envoy to a city-state. The society includes primarily wealthy people.

Owls of Minerva are focused on government, espionage, and trade. The gameplay for this society significantly differs from others, but it doesn’t make it less enjoyable. It is the perfect choice for every player who wants to be engaged in politics.

Being a member of Owls of Minerva, you should be aware of the economy. This society provides the extra Economic Policy slot and extra Envoys, who can be quickly sent to a city-state to get some beneficial offers. It can definitely help you from the early to the late game stages.

Regarding leaders, choosing Rough Rider Teddy or Catherine de Medici would be best. Rough Rider Teddy is perfectly suitable for players who love economics, and Catherine is ideal if you like espionage.

By choosing Owls of Minerva, you can get The Mask of Baphomet - a valuable achievement unlocked for earning all Governor promotions for this Secret Society. Still, it is a long-term goal that can take a lot of time.

2
HERMETIC ORDER

Hermetic Order - secret society

Hermetic Order is the second Secret Society in Civilization 6 that can be unlocked by discovering a Natural Wonder. It significantly differs from Owls of Minerva but doesn’t make it less exciting.

Hermetic Order includes primarily scientists and alchemists - the most educated parts of the society in Civilization 6. Their primary focus is Science, Resources, and Great People. With such a set of abilities, you can succeed extremely quickly if you play Hermetic Order correctly.

Once you become a member of the Hermetic Order, you can unlock Ley Lines - the new resource found on the map. Also, you will get increased bonuses to the District and can build an Alchemical Society to replace a University.

The primary focus should be on producing Great People. Hermetic Order gives them an invaluable boost. Check the list below and learn the best civilisations for Hermetic Order in Civilization 6:

  • Sweden
  • England
  • Phoenicia
  • Brazil
  • Greece
  • Scotland
  • Spain
  • Australia

Also, the perfect choice for this society is Vietnam. They can earn much higher adjacency bonuses by building districts only on Wood, Rainforest, and Marshes tiles. Still, Vietnam’s gameplay is too specific and not suitable for everyone.

3
VOIDSINGERS

Voidsingers society

Voidsingers are probably the most mysterious Secret Society in Civilization 6. It can be unlocked by visiting a Tribal Village, which isn't too big a challenge even if you are a beginner.

Voidsingers are nihilistic dark elder gods who focus on Religion, Relics, and Disloyalty. The gameplay of this Secret Society is unique but extremely specific.

Playing Voidsingers, classical Monument will be replaced with Old God Obelisk. It has all the attributes and base effects of the Monument but with some improvements. Old Gold Obelisk provides an extra slot for Great Work and additional Faith.

Also, this Secret Society has a unique unit - Cultist. Cultists can recruit followers from other cities and decrease their power by decreasing Loyalty. Then, you can use Dark Summoning to improve the Loyalty damage and crush opponents’ cities.

4
SANGUINE PACT

Civilization 6 secret societies - Sanguine Pact

Sanguine Pact is the last Secret Society in the game. It can be unlocked by clearing a Barbarian Camp, which might take some time.

Sanguine Pact is a classic militaristic regime that you might have seen many times throughout world history. It has an unhealthy appetite for blood, territory, and conquering other nations, using a strong army as its main power.

The central unit in Sanguine Pact is Vampire, who can increase Combat Strength once some units die close to him. The most overpowered thing about Vampires is that they cannot die. Instead, they retreat to a safe place and heal.

It is essential to choose the proper leader if you want to reach the best effectiveness with Sanguine Pact. Check the list below and teach the best people to become leaders for this Secret Society:

  • Chandragupta
  • Cyrus
  • Shaka
  • Tomyris
  • Ambiorix
