Chernobyl-themed first-person-shooter coming to phones

First-person-shooters have a less than glorious history on mobile, mainly due to the restrictions of using a mobile keypad to play a genre originally designed for keyboard'n'mouse. Duke Nukem Mobile 3D was a bit pish; Doom RPG was great, but had to be turned into a turn-based RPG to make it work.

That hasn't put Qplaze off, though. The developer is working on a mobile version of PC shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl. The game will be 3D, but with stealth elements alongside the all-out shooty bits. There'll also be a bunch of mini-quests to complete.

The game will follow the plot of the PC version. Set in 2012, you're investigating the heart of the radiation-packed zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power station.

Qplaze says that the mobile game will feature a detailed hit model, bullet wounds and all manner of weaponry, and also promises it'll work well on less whizzy handsets.

NOMOC will be publishing mobile S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and it's due out in September. As you can see from the screenshots above, it's buffing up nicely already. Click 'Track It!' to keep close tabs on it, day and night.
