RuneScape releases the all-new Hero Pass which is their take on the battle pass system

Jagex has just released a new update for RuneScape that aims to shake things up with a brand-new feature. Players can now try out the Hero Pass, which is the MMORPG’s take on the battle pass. It grants access to various powerful items, XP buffs, and of course, loads of cosmetics. All standard members can enjoy a bunch of freebies while the 12-month premier membership holders will be able to get their hands on exclusive rewards.

RuneScape’s Hero Pass will be replacing the Yak Trak and Challenge System in order to provide a more refined experience to everyone. The always-on battle pass feature allows players to earn Hero Points all the time as they complete a plethora of daily, weekly, and special missions. Progress will still feel organic and there won’t be too much of a grindy aspect to it.

Every Hero Pass will contain 120 stages of which 99 are standard levels while the remaining 21 heroic levels are for those looking for a challenge. Unlike the Yak Traks, a Hero Pass season will last for three months, giving players enough time to level up and obtain all rewards.

The reward track’s first season is naturally inspired by the recently released Necromancy update. It comes with a wide variety of Underworld-themed cosmetics like the Radiant Warden and the Crypt Lord outfits. Both free and premium pass members are set to earn bucketloads of rewards over the next few months.

In addition, the Hero Pass Store will contain current and classic rewards, which can be acquired in any order. They can be earned through Emblems that are part of the regular levels and players will eventually be able to purchase every single item in the store through gameplay. The Premium Pass offers more goodies which will be available for free to Premier Members.
