Pokemon Go's Twinkling Fantasy event will include the debut of Mega Salamence
Niantic has kicked off yet another eventful year for Pokémon GO trainers. January 2023 is packed with a number of events, Raids, Spotlight Hours and two Community Days. As we gear up for Chespin to be featured as the first Community Day Pokémon of the year, it is also time to prepare for an event that kicks off shortly after.
The Twilight Fantasy event is coming to Pokémon Go, bringing Dragon and Fairy-type Pokémon. It will be available between January 10th and 16th. Themed Pokémon will be found in the wild, in Raids, and even as encounters for completing certain quests and challenges.
But the biggest inclusion of this event is the debut of Mega Salamence. The Mega variant of the gen three pseudo-legendary will join the AR game for the first time through Mega Raids. It is an awesome time to join a few Raids because Zekrom with the featured attack Fusion Bolt will be available during the event too.
In addition to this, Fairy-type Pokémon like Clefairy, Clefable, and Jigglypuff will be available in wild encounters and Raids. For the lucky trainers out there, a Shiny Dedenne may just show up as well. Field Research tasks will give players the opportunity to get their hands on Clefairy, Dratini, Bagon, Dedenne, and Goomy.
During the event, a number of bonuses will go live. Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws will all yield 2x XP and also provide trainers with extra Candy. For players above level 31, the same throws will have an increased chance of rewarding Candy XL as well.
Finally, a Collection Challenge will be hosted during the event that will task players with catching event-themed Pokémon. Those that manage to complete this mission will be rewarded with 50 Salamence Mega Energy, a Charged TM, and a Fast TM.
