2021 is almost over and Niantic already has an action-packed January 2022 planned for everyone. Pokémon Go’s Season of Heritage has just begun and we will learn more about the mysterious door as time passes. Take a look at what trainers can do throughout January.

Like every month, Mondays will feature a one-time-purchase bundle containing a Remote Raid Pass and other items for 1 PokéCoin. The January Research Breakthrough features Onix and will reward players with Steelix Mega Energy for completing daily quests.

January Raids

December saw formidable legendaries appear in raids. January will too with five-star raids featuring Kyurem in the first week, Heatran in the second, Genesect in the third, and Regice in the final week of the month. In Mega raids Mega Aerodactyl will make its debut on January 7th, with Mega Abomasnow showing up before that. Every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm local time, Raid Hours will be held featuring these legendary Pokémon.

Spotlight Hours

Spotlight Hours will take place every Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time. This month’s spotlight Pokémon and bonuses are:

  • January 4th – Solosis and 2x Transfer Candy
  • January 11th – Diglett and 2x Catch Stardust
  • January 18th – Plusle with 2x Catch XP
  • January 25th – Minun with 2x Transfer Candy

January Community Day

The New Year’s first community day will be held on January 16th and will feature Spheal. You can read all about it here.

Upcoming Events

  • New Year’s Event – Between December 31st and January 4th, 2022, celebrate with your favourite Pokémon dressed in new costumes and avatar items.
  • Mountains of Power – This event will progress the ongoing story as trainers work with Spark to activate the second part of the mysterious door. Unlocking the first revealed all the hidden dragon-type Pokémon, so who knows what this will bring. The only clue that we currently have is that the mountains resemble the Johto and Sinnoh regions. This event will run in the second week of January.
  • Electric and Steel-themed event inspired by the Kanto Power Plant – From January 19th, players will continue working with Spark to unlock the third and final part of the door using electric-type Pokémon. Be prepared to face resistance as more people find out about this door.

Get ready for an amazing January by downloading Pokémon Go for free on the App Store and Google Play.
