Panzer Tactics 2 rolling inexorably for mobile

Run for cover!

Product: Panzer Tactics 2 | Publisher: HandyGames | Genre: Action, Strategy
We've all thought it: why am I driving this poxy car when I could be driving a gigantic tank? Why am I waiting in traffic when I could be flattening the other cars or brushing them aside like so many clothes horses? And why, in the name of all that that bleeds, do I not have a big gun that fires exploding projectiles?

While you'll probably never do those things in real life, HandyGames is providing you with an opportunity to do them virtually with Panzer Tactics 2, a sequel to last year's strategy war game.

To give you a bit of background, we thought Panzer Tactics was a big and complex game whose only major faults were that it was too big and too complex. Despite all the work that had obviously gone into it, it wasn't quite right for mobile, but the elements of something good were there if mixed in the right proportions.

Fast forward a year and Panzer Tactics 2 is on the horizon, bristling like a robot hippo with the threat of metal violence. Will it plough confidently through the wreckage of last year's effort in slicker, simpler form, or will it get snarled up in the same mistakes?

From the screenshots, it has to be said that it's not looking particularly different, but the proof of the Panzer is in the getting walloped by it, so we'll reserve judgement and hope for the best. Click 'Track It!' to get word of the review when it comes.
