Ultra Mobile PCs (UMPCs) could be the next big thing, as road warriors shun pure power in favour of laptops that they can pull out of their coat pocket. Well, assuming it's a fairly big coat, of course.

We don't really follow the UMPC market, but maybe we should start. Check out the device above. It's called Pandora, and is a new Linux-based UMPC that's due to go on sale in the next couple of months.

It's a DS-sized clamshell device, with a touchscreen, two analogue sticks, a D-pad and a QWERTY keyboard. Oh, and a GameCube-speed ARM processor, wi-fi and TV output.

It'll cost around £199 when it goes on sale, and you can find out more on this site. The device is being pitched as the successor to the GP32x. The real question, though, is what you'll be able to play on it.

This FAQ page suggests that it'll support emulation of the SNES, Game Boy Advance, Sega Master System, PlayStation, SNK NeoGeo and NeoGeo Pocket, Atari Lynx, and that it may manage the Amiga, Atari ST and even the DS.

One to watch, to say the least. Especially as you'll also be able to use it as a mini-PC.
