Old School RuneScape reveals roadmap for the first half of 2023, bringing a sequel to a 17-year-old iconic quest

Over the last weekend, Jagex held a Winner Summit where they unveiled their plans for Old School RuneScape as we enter into the new year. A timeline of six months was established, which includes numerous quests, expansions, a number of new features, and events.

But the shining star on this Christmas tree of updates is a new and highly awaited Grandmaster Quest, which is the sequel to the iconic Desert Treasure quest that was first released 17 years ago. Titled Desert Treasure II – The Fallen Empire, players will uncover the secrets of the Kharidian Desert as they explore four new areas packed with content and deadly bosses.

Woodcutting has always been a beloved activity on OSRS. Forestry: Way of the Forester will expand on this by adding more social features to the system. Competitions are being replaced with cooperative experiences, with the ability to make campfires to brew special teas as well. Perfect after a hard day of work.

In addition to this, a new Master level quest called Secret of the North will be introduced, which includes a solo-only boss encounter. Sounds tough but it will offer great rewards on completion such as upgrades for the Ancient Potion, and Ancient Staff, as well as a new Venator Bow for the archers.

2023 will also see the return of Bounty Hunters, a minigame where players are offered bounties to hunt down others, creating a sort of bridge into PvP gameplay. Meanwhile, polling is also back and everyone will soon be given the difficult task of deciding whether or not they want OSRS’ first-ever new skill.

To top it all off, Christmas celebrations will also begin soon as Santa Claus is coming to Gielinor with The Nutcracker, a pub for only the most festive players. The party goes live on December 14th.
