As the eagle-eyed among you may have noticed, we're into the last week of October and there's still no sign of the N900, Nokia's new, fantastic-looking touch screen smart phone.
The official press release for the device released back in August stated that "The Nokia N900 will be available in select markets from October 2009." However, a recent posting from Peter Schneider, head of Maemo marketing at Nokia, let us know that, "We expect it to start shipping during November 2009."
The device promises to be a real powerhouse, complete with a slide-out keyboard, advanced Maemo OS and a 5MP camera. It'll cost an estimated EUR 500.

The (rumoured) N920 is a more interesting prospect, basically the same phone but with a capacitive touchscreen in lieu of the resistive screen and slide-out keyboard of N900.
Could this be Nokia's (sigh) iPhone killer? Certainly more than matches it in the specs department.

The thing is, if Nokia made the N900 with a capacitive screen like the iPhone, the device will virtually be unsellable in Asia. That's propably why they are not in a hurry to release capacitive screen-based phone.
However, the Nokia X6 will in fact be capacitive.
Personally, a prefer a proper qwerty keyboard over a virtual one on a capacitive screen, any day. So I am not complaining about Nokia's approach in this area, on the contrary ;-)
