NBA Now 23 is here in time for the new NBA season. The NBA Now series is made by the same folks that brought you iconic mobile games like Summoner's War and other sports games like Golfstar and 9 Innings Baseball. This marks the second officially licensed sports series created by Com2Us.

The game blends the gameplay aspect with the element of card collecting similar to other basketball games but it feels more like there's a 50/50 ratio between the gameplay and player-collecting features. Essentially, you can sometimes forget about the collecting element and just focus on the games if that makes sense.

But, you can play regular season games as well as play in practice and arcade mode (dunk and three-point contest). As you play, you'll build your fantasy hoops team as you try to reign supreme in the National Basketball Association.

As we know, scoring is probably the most popular (and important) aspect of basketball and that's what we'll be focusing on today. The way you approach offense in NBA Now 23 is slightly different from other games but the controls are familiar so if you have experience with mobile NBA games then this should be smooth sailing.

Tip #1 - Inside Scoring is Highly Effective

In many basketball games, you might be more tempted to shoot a three-pointer. However, in NBA Now 23, scoring inside the paint is just as dangerous. If you're able to make your way through the defense, you might have yourself an automatic bucket.

And yes, you can miss inside shots if you're well guarded and that's no different here. However, it is a bit easier to score at the rim. And, it doesn't matter who you use. Whether it's the point guard, small forward, or centre, anybody can make their way to the basket for a two with a little manoeuvring.

This doesn't mean you can't fire off three-pointers. By all means, go ahead if you're open. But, just bare in mind that clean looks are very possible in the paint. This leads to the next tip which is another reminder as much as it is a tip and this also relates to inside scoring.

Tip #2 - Take Advantage of Dunking

Going back to the art of the inside bucket, one of the unique things about NBA Now 23 is that almost anyone can pull off some thunderous dunks. Even players who you aren't used to seeing do rim-shattering slams, you'll see pull it off too.

This makes it even easier to score in the paint. You need to be able to drive to the basket at the right time, but when you do, it feels like an instant bucket. This is because, not only will you dunk, but you'll throw it down right over the defender in many instances.

And honestly, they're just fun to marvel at. Usually, when you're going for a posterizing dunk, it will happen in slow motion making it look epic. The gameplay overall just improved quite a bit from the previous NBA Now games. So, not only should you take advantage of those paint opportunities but go ahead and throw it down with authority; you might be surprised by the results.

Tip #3 - Playmaking Creates Great Scoring Opportunities

Ahh yes, I feel like playmaking always has to be mentioned in tips regarding basketball games because it's that important. It goes without saying but, passing the ball instead of always forcing your shot is a smart way to play.

However, playmaking is more than just passing the rock. If you feel like you're a good ball handler, this can lead to some easy baskets as well. Whether you're driving to the hoop or getting open for a mid or three-point shot by creating space, ball handling is another key element.

Just make sure you're controlling a player who can dribble. You may not handle the ball as well with a centre unless you're players like Kevin Durant or Nikola Jokic who are both around 7ft but can handle the ball very well for their sizes. Mastering the art of passing and dribbling will make you a Picasso on the court and lead to more points.

In the end, since you're clearly a fan, here are the best Android basketball games, and the finest basketball games on iOS!
