Nokia’s all singing, all dancing flagship, the N97, will be with us this month, according to an official press release.

As we reported back in December the N97 is looking to be the swiss army knife of mobile phones. It has full touch functionality through its 3.5" screen, as well as a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, 32GB of onboard memory and a microHCSD slot for another 16GB.

But it’s not just about cramming a load of pre-existing technology in. According to the press release, “Nokia N97 is Nokia's first device to feature a personalizable home screen, which can be customized with a range of widgets which bring live information directly to the device.”

Naturally, the N97 is going to be tied in very closely with the newly launched Ovi Store, and it's already been confirmed as being N-Gage compatible. So we can safely say that this is Nokia’s first major attempt at taking on Apple directly in the multimedia super-device stakes.
