More Pandora pre-orders could be on the way

Cut off point announced for those who haven’t paid yet

More Pandora pre-orders could be on the way

The Pandora suffered a few setbacks with electronics manufacturers letting the UK-based design team down, but now it looks as though the anticipated pocket computer/open source handheld console is fully back on track.

A video’s been put out showing the first prototype model in action (using a white case, rather than the finished black one, to help the designers spot any stress fractures in the plastic) with Quake running smooth as glass in the background.

Due to the extended delays, many pre-orders were refunded, and others weren’t paid at all. All the available pre-order slots for the Pandora were filled, however, and as launch day grows closer, the Open Pandora team has decide to set a cut off point for those unpaid slots.

Come April 1st, around 300 pre-orders could become available when the unpaid slots are cleared out, so anyone keen to get inside Pandora’s box should keep an eye on the official site next week.

Check out the prototype in the video below. Music by the Pet Shop Boys (don’t ask me why).

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
