These are Rails which are very useful if you work with mechanisms. When a Minecart passes over this Rail, it can activate a Redstone. In other words, the Detector Rails work just like the Pressure Plates.

Crafting it is even more expensive than simple Rails. You can craft six Detector Rails using six Iron Ingots, Redstone Dust, and Stone Pressure Plate.

POWERED RAIL CRAFT RECIPE

This is the most useful type of Rail in Minecraft. On the ground, they function like plain Rails. But once you power them up, they become a cool speed booster. • If the Hopper in the Minecart rides on the Activator Rail, the Hopper will stop collecting items.
• Command Blocks in Minecart will execute commands at short intervals when they pass the Activator Rail.
• Mobs and players will be ejected from the Minecart while riding on the Activator Rail.
• TNT in Minecart will be activated by Activator Rail, so be careful.
