Meteos comes to mobile

The DS' block puzzler is now on your phone

Meteos comes to mobile

Having already brought Lumines to phones last year, mobile publisher Gameloft has worked its magic on another DS puzzler: Meteos. The new phone version, Meteos Astro Blocks, has just been released, and it promises all the fun of the original, plus a couple of new game modes.

Like the original, the basic idea is to move coloured blocks around to form stacks or rows of three or more, which then disappear into orbit (if you want the full details, read our review of the DS version).

The mobile game offers Starquest and Survival modes to play, as well as two unique modes called Puzzle and Boss, which feature, well, puzzles and boss battles. But you probably could have guessed that. With eight unique planets to play across and 40 levels in total, the game looks set to provide plenty of challenge.

However, a word of caution. On Gameloft's website, the publisher lets players rate games they've bought out of 10. Meteos Astro Blocks is already on sale there, and after 349 reviews at the time of writing, the game's got a measly 4.8 rating.

It remains to be seen whether this means it's a dodgy mobile game, or just disappointing if you have high expectations after the original DS version. We'll have our review for you next week.
