Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend goes mobile

…and she looks flippin' gorgeous!

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend goes mobile

As we initially reported back in May, the lovely Miss Lara Croft will be swinging onto mobile in her latest adventure, Tomb Raider: Legend.

But unlike the previous 2D incarnations and the IOMO developed Tomb Raider: Puzzle Paradox (already out in France), this new title developed by Fathammer will enable us to ogle Lara in glorious third-person 3D.

Tying in closely with the console versions (don't miss our PSP review), Legend sees Lara trotting around the globe, exploring treacherous tombs and uncover details of her murky past. (Well she was young and naive, they told her they'd never publish the photos, we've all been there, and so on – Ed).

Suffice to say there'll be plenty of action en route, with fast and frantic gunplay mixed up with platform leaping and problem-solving. In short, everything you'd expect from a Tomb Raider game, although the developer has sensibly restricted Lara's full freedom of movement to make manouvering her on your mobile less painful.

What's also certain is that this will be one of the most graphically pleasing mobile games yet. With a polygon-packed Lara exploring a wide variety of exotic locations, we're not going to bet against Eidos's boast that Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend will be 'the' game to show off high-end handsets when it arrives this autumn.

We picked up a few more tidbits about Lara on mobile at a recent industry games development conference, which we plan to type up just as soon as we can find our notes. You keep closer tabs on Lara by clicking 'Track It!'.
