Hands on with THQ Wireless' Indiana Jones mobile game

Hands on with THQ Wireless' Indiana Jones mobile game

We've written about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull before. It's the first fruits of THQ Wireless' deal to produce games based on the legendary action movies.

However, we hadn't seen any screenshots of the game. Or, more importantly, played it. We have now. THQ Wireless gave us a hands-on with the game yesterday at Mobile World Congress, so we've got a better idea of the direction it's taking it.

It's a platformer, which from the static screenshots might remind you of Gameloft's movie games. However, what's really impressive is when it's in motion – a helluva lot of effort has clearly gone into animating Indy himself.

The part of the game we played involved Indy automatically running along a level, with us hitting '2' to jump over gaps, and '8' to duck under obstacles. Apparently only some levels are like that, though – others see you controlling all his movement.

So far, then, it's looking good. It's due out in May alongside the new Indiana Jones movie and you can click 'Track It!' for an alert the moment we publish a more in-depth preview.
