I-play has dropped us a line to tell us that its new hip hop flavoured rhythm-action game, Hip Hop All Star, is imminent on mobile.

The best way to describe the game is Guitar Hero for those who prefer decks to axes and Busta Rhymes to AC/DC. It’s up to you to match the beats on the turntable in time-honoured style: hitting three buttons that correspond to three coloured bars in time to the music.

This music has been sourced from a number of stellar names in the field of hip-hop, from Kool G Rap and DJ Green Lantern to Busta Rhymes himself.

I had a brief play with an early build of the game last month, when it was already shaping up to be a very slick package indeed. The presentation nails the vibrant hip-hop street style nicely, and the beat-matching gameplay seems solid.

You’ll have to wait for our full review to see how the final product stands up.
