Gwent: The Witcher Card Game introduces new Chronicles card drop featuring 24 cards in latest update

CD Projekt Red just dropped a new update for the popular mobile card battler Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. Version 10.10 features 24 new cards, a murder mystery event, and a bunch of new and returning seasonal modes.

The main attraction of Gwent’s latest update is the new card drop, which is called Chronicles. Players will be able to explore mythical lands full of lore and legend, as they walk in the shoes of great people of the forgotten past. Within the 24 cards being added with Chronicles, every faction will receive four new cards each.

The set is divided into 12 gold cards, with the remaining half being bronze of various types. It includes powerful cards like the Knights of Toussaint, who were the founding members of Clan Brokvar, and the inhabitants of "Tir ná Lia", home of the riders of the Wild Hunt. These cards will further expand Gwent’s intricate gameplay mechanics and can be obtained for free with this update.

Let’s move on to the murder mystery event, called Saovine. The event will take place in the Reward Book where additional vanities can be unlocked by completing quests. To dive deeper into the lore, players can unlock Story Nodes from Geralt and Dandelion’s perspectives in order to learn what happened during the Savoine Party in Lady Orianna’s Estate. There’s still time for this event to go live, though. It will be available between October 27th and November 7th.

The current season is slated to end on November 8th and features five seasonal modes:

  • Trial by Fire – Choose your own faction, but play using a prebuilt deck with cards from Chronicles showing up as well
  • Double Down – The starting deck is doubled in size and playing a unit from the hand, a unit with the same provision cost from the deck must also be played
  • Patience is a virtue – At the beginning of the round and end of a turn, all cards are randomized into those having a higher provision cost
  • Battle Rush – There are only eight seconds to complete a turn and 15 to wrap up redrawing
  • Power Shift – At the start, the power of every unit in the deck will match its provision cost.
