Despite the fact that it is of course fraught with ethical concerns, man has an intrinsic desire to play God through the medium of genetic engineering. After all, who wouldn't want a team of flying monkeys or a five-headed guard dog at their disposal?

Perhaps that's just us. But in any case, those with a burning desire to pervert nature's design can now splice to their heart's content in Genetica.

In it, you play a scientist who is trying to make various new and exotic species by aligning different combinations of DNA strands. Essentially, from what we can tell this amounts to a casual match-'em-up puzzler.

Not exactly unique, then, but with its quirky theme and the promised ability to create new creatures as part of the puzzle, Genetica might just have enough to set it apart from the crowd.

There are 40 predefined levels promised, as well as an infinite number of random ones – meaning that, at the very least, the title should have longevity on its side.

The game is so far without a publisher but if and when we get our hands on a copy, we will be sure to bring you further details.
