Gameloft reveals plans to make PS3 games

As part of its latest financial results announcement, Gameloft has revealed plans to release games for Sony's PlayStation 3 console, presumably as downloadable titles.

Here's the relevant bit of the announcement:

"Gameloft continues to reap the fruit of its investments in its creative and distribution abilities... These strategic investments pave the way for the future growth of the company, especially in the "rich games" segment that was launched in 2008 on high-end phones (iPhone, N-Gage, Instinct, etc.) and on downloading consoles (Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3) which is expected to fuel growth in the second half of 2008 and in following years."

So far, Gameloft's console activities have been restricted to releasing games on the WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade platforms. It's no surprise that the publisher is extending this to PS3's PlayStation Network, but it's good to have confirmation.

Which titles will it launch on PS3? As an indication, so far Xbox Live Arcade has had Brain Challenge, while WiiWare has Block Breaker Deluxe and two original games, TV Show King (pictured) and Wild West Guns.
