Fortnite announces highly anticipated Ranked system to release in next update

Fortnite has been around for nearly six years and still remains at the forefront of the battle royale genre. Over time, the gameplay has become hyper-competitive with the addition of the Arena, Weekly Cups, and massive tournaments like the FCNS. What the game has lacked though, is a tier-based Rank System which others like PUBG have already incorporated.

Well, all that is about to change because Epic Games have just dropped a massive announcement outlining the Ranked System coming to Fortnite. It is set to be part of version 24.40 and will be available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build. This mean’s we’re only a couple of days away from launch.

Fortnite Ranked will kick off with Season Zero, which will be available until the end of C4S2: Mega. Consider this a sort of trial round where Epic will test out the feature, add and remove certain mechanics, and work towards perfecting the version for the next season. On release, the rank classes include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Elite, Champion, and Unreal.

That’s not even all because a few ranks have subdivisions too. Bronze, Silver, and Gold have three ranks each while the remaining will have one. It’s definitely a massive ladder to get to the top, which won’t be easy either. By the time you're in the Elite and Champion brackets, you’ll face off against highly-skilled players en route to Unreal.

Season Zero evaluates ranking according to past match performances and the first Ranked Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build Match played. To get a rank, players just need to complete one game. Once in the Unreal zone, players will not be relegated to a lower category until the end of the season regardless of losses.

The Unreal rank is where the real (ironic) competition lies because each player is given a rank signifying their global standing. It’s a race to the top, but can you get there before everyone else?
