FlatOut racing onto mobile
Motorised mobile phone anarchy (hands-free is safer)
Mobile developer Xendex has announced a deal with Empire Interactive to bring its brutal, car-mashing racer franchise, FlatOut, to the mobile platform. The deal follows Xendex's previous announcement of a multi-year licensing deal with Empire, which covered the games FlatOut and Big Mutha Truckers. I-play is in line to publish the game through its mobile distribution network.
"We are excited to partner with I-play in bringing the FlatOut franchise to the mobile market," says Achim Kürten, veep of international sales and marketing at Xendex. "I-play and Xendex have worked together previously with great success on games like the multi-million selling FMX Freestyle Motocross series. With I-play´s strong sales and marketing power we look forward to building on this success and to establish FlatOut as a key franchise in the mobile space."
We took a look at FlatOut on the PSP earlier in the year, and were suitably impressed by the high-octane, balls out racing mayhem. The mobile version promises similar four-wheeled recklessness, with three different racing classes, 24 tracks, weather and particle effects, a destructible environment and numerous power-ups for maximum destruction.
"We are pleased at the opportunity to distribute the new FlatOut racing title across our distribution channels," says Ami Ben-David, senior vice president at Oberon Media (I-play's parent company). "This new partnership not only continues to strengthen our relationship with Xendex, but it also reinforces I-play's success with racing franchises."
