Dream Day Wedding 2: Manhattan

As life changing events go, getting married is a biggie. After spending months of planning and thousands of pounds your nuptials are likely to be unforgettable - especially if you happen to embarrass yourself on the dance floor at the inevitable post-wedding disco and booze up.

Thankfully such alcohol related regrets aren’t present in Dream Day Wedding 2. As the sequel to the insanely popular original, it sees you assisting a pair of soppy love birds with their marriage preparations rather than walking down the aisle yourself.

However, before you get notions of picking the colour of the flowers or arranging a particularly debauched stag night in the salacious, red-lit backstreets of Amsterdam, it should be noted that your participation is limited to finding hidden objects dotted around each unique location.

Clearly this wedding lark is a piece of cake.

Secreted in each of the various scenes is a number of items that you have to uncover before you can proceed to the next stage of the marriage arrangements. Bizarrely, many of these objects have little to do with the act of Holy Matrimony (unless we’ve been mistaken about dog leads all this time, that is).

To complicate matters there are other extraneous bits and pieces on-screen as well, and you’ll often find that objects you’re looking for are deviously concealed behind such trinkets. Thankfully if you get too stumped you can activate the ‘hint’ command - but it’s worth noting that you only have a limited supply of these.

Before you naively assume that randomly clicking around the screen is a sound strategy, you should know that such action will result in seconds being shaved off your overall time limit. If you fail to track down all of the objects before this expires, you fail the level.

Aside from some mildly diverting mini-games, which deviate only very slightly from the core gameplay, that’s all there is to Dream Day Wedding 2. It’s engaging for a short time and the presentation is unquestionably impressive, but the lack of variety and general absence of excitement ensures that it doesn’t take long for interest to wane.

Damien's mum hoped he would grow out of playing silly video games and gain respectable employment. Perhaps become a teacher or a scientist, that kind of thing. Needless to say she now weeps openly whenever anyone asks how her son's getting on these days.
