Digital Chocolate employees falsely arrested for drug-trafficking in Mexico

Digital Chocolate CEO Trip Hawkins has revealed that a group of his employees had a bit of a run in with the law during a recent visit to Mexico.

Speaking on his new blog, Hawkins explained that the team was in Mexicali scoping out a new Digital Chocolate start-up operation when they were intercepted, cuffed and interrogated by local police. They were released “after some harassment”.

"It sounded like such a hackneyed joke," writes Trip. It sounds like one to us, too.

As the story goes, a cheeky rival, who already enjoys a presence in Mexico, tipped the police off that there was a big drug deal about to go down, and that the DC guys might know something about it.

Anyone in the industry fancy leaving their own anonymous tip as to who the culprit might be? We’ll lay on disguises, witness protection - the works.
