Meet Crash Bandicoot

What's a nice marsupial like you doing on a mobile phone like this?

Meet Crash Bandicoot
|
| Crash Boom Bang!

Like many gamers, we've known Crash Bandicoot for quite a few years now. In fact, we first met him a decade ago, in the game of that name that launched the multi-million selling, Monopoly-money making franchise.

We thought it was about time we caught up with him for some man-to-marsupial conversation.

Pocket Gamer: Hi Crash! How are you doing?

Hey there, I am very good thanks. I just escaped from a trap set by Dr. Cortex on my way here, actually. It's NOT a safe place you've got! Have you ever though of installing a raygun detector at the entrance?

Sorry! So what's a bandicoot doing in a mobile game? Isn't it a little cramped in there?

Actually, it's a natural transition for me. Being on all the big platforms, I had to go mobile – it's the 21st century you know, and my fans are mobile too. It's pretty fun too to be on mobile, allowing me to do different things than on a regular console. I'm lucky too because I have a great team working on my mobile products.

What are your favourite mini-games in Crash Boom Bang!?

Difficult choice – you know, there are 14 of them! I guess I like Balloon Burst for the concentration needed to get it right, Infernal Tower for the dexterity, Crash Baseball for the fun (and because I like baseball anyway), and Survivor, just to see Dr. Cortex explode with the bomb.

Do you have a mobile yourself? Which one?

I actually have more than one. Whenever I go down to the Vivendi Mobile Games office, I usually 'borrow' (you know what I mean by 'borrow') one or two from the marketing department. Anyway, they only use them to play Crash Bandicoot games!

What's exciting about this new game then?

Dude, I just told you, 14 amazing games on a mobile, which means 14 ways to beat Dr. Cortex! Oh yeah, the multiplayer aspect too – so cool to play on one mobile with up to four of your friends. Try it pleeeaase! Try it!

Will fans of your older games recognise it?

Come on, I know I'm getting old but I still look good. My fans will definitely recognise me. And it's not all about me: Coco, Crunch, and the damned Doctor Cortex and his niece Nina are in the game. Even Aku Aku and the dragon!

What's your current relationship like with Dr. Cortex?

Dr. who? Just kidding, he is tougher than I thought. I think we can say that it's a kind of love and hate relationship. At least that's what my psychoanalyst says.

Where does your career go from here?

You know I don't like to speak about my success: humility is one of my numerous gifts! I like to compete, so plenty of exciting new adventures are coming soon, but the guys at Vivendi Games Mobile told me to keep quiet!

I love being on mobile and I'll be back soon, that's all I can say for now. Stay tuned for more!
