How many Chrono Trigger endings are there?

Games offer interesting and unexpected endings every time. It is common for a game to have three endings: good, neutral, and bad. However, there are also some games that can have more than 10 endings. An example of such a game is Chrono Trigger, which is available on different platforms (including mobile phones). It's also likely that Chrono Trigger will be released on Switch.

Chrono Trigger offers 15 endings: 1 bad ending and 14 additional ones. We have explained below how you can grab each one if you'd like to finish the game differently with each playthrough. Let's get started with the Chrono Trigger endings guide. Warning, massive spoilers below!

The Apocalypse

It is possible to get this ending if you lose the fight with Lavos at the end of the game. The game will say that the world is being destroyed. On the last screen, the game will say: "In the end, the future refused to change."

Beyond Time

You can get this ending easily. Most Chrono Trigger fans call this ending the true ending. To get it, you have to resurrect Crono before you beat Lavos at the end of the game.

Float Away

You get this ending by using the Epoch to smash into Lavos' shell. This way, you will just avoid the fight.

Follow that Cat!!!

You can get this ending by fighting Lavos' head. It is long and a little bit boring, but once his head is destroyed, you can enter the shell to finish the fight.

Save the Chancellor

This is a minor ending. To get this ending, you have to do the Rainbow Shell quest and save the Chancellor. The thing is that the Chancellor will be standing next to the king instead of Pierre, Crono's lawyer.

On that Day, 10 Years Ago

If you want to get this ending, you have to do the Forest Restoration quest. If you manage to save Lara at the Millennial Fair, Lucca's mother will be happy and will dance with Taban, her husband. If you do not manage to save her, then she will sit down and get upset.

Revenge for Cyrus

This ending depends on whether you killed Magus or not. Also, you have to save Epoch if you want to get this ending. As you are zooming through the sky, look down at the bridge - instead of seeing the Frog next to the Queen, you will see Glenn.

Reunion

Probably the easiest Chrono Trigger ending. To get this ending, you just have to not resurrect Crono.

The Dream Project

To get this ending, instead of going into the left teleport for the test run of the teleporter, you should go to the right one. And then you have to fight Lavos. It can be tough, but if you are on New Game+ and you are at least level 50, then it is not a problem.

Alternatively, you can get this ending by beating Lavos during the Ocean Palace. However, in this fight, Lavos is likely to have double power, so it won’t be easy even on New Game+.

The Successor of Guardia

To get this one, you have to beat Lavos immediately after returning from 600 AD for the first time using the right teleporter.

Good Night

To get this ending, you have to beat Lavos on your first visit to the End Of Time. You have to take a look at the basket in the corner.

The Legendary Hero

You can get this ending by beating Lavos at any time after the battle at Zenan Bridge, but before you give or take the badge from Tata.

The Unknown Past

You get this ending by beating Lavos at any point after getting the Hero's badge from Tata, but before going to Ayla's party in 65 million BC.

People of the Times

To acquire this ending, you have to beat Lavos at any time after getting the gate back from Azala. And before giving Masamune to Frog, you need to make him a full-time member of your team.

The Oath

If you want to get this ending, then beat Lavos at any time after giving Masamune blade to Frog just before you defeat Magus.

Dino Age

You can get this ending by defeating Lavos anytime after defeating Magus, but do not forget about defeating Azala and the Black Tyranno before.

What the Prophet Seeks

To get this ending, you will need to beat Lavos after Azala and the Black Tyranno fights. And before that, Azala and the Black Tyranno should lose the fight with Lavos in the Ocean Palace.

Memory Lane

This is the easiest Chrono Trigger ending to miss. To get it, you have to beat Lavos after seeing how Schala opens the sealed door in Zeal Palace in 12000 BC by using her necklace, but before powering up Marle's necklace.

Dream's Epilogue

To get this one you have to go through dimensional portals that open up after the Ocean Palace and beat the Dimensional Vortex inside. After it, you go to talk to Gaspar and then use the bucket Gate to travel to Time's Eclipse and defeat the Dream Devourer.

That's it!

Chrono Trigger can surprise you with its variety and incredible number of endings. Keep in mind, however, that to get them all, you need to be persistent - as a reward, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the great variety of ways how the story can end. As this article ends (no pun intended), you should take a look at the best version of Crono Trigger at the moment, because the game isn't the same on all platforms!
