Codemasters makes new deal with Glu, and hints at interlinking mobile and console titles

Classy mobile publisher Glu – in our good books for bringing its scintillating conversion of Xbox racer Project Gotham Racing to mobile – has secured exclusive mobile publishing rights for Codemasters' forthcoming wireless lineup.

Two racing games are among runners – Colin McRae Rally and TOCA Race Driver – which we're particularly looking forward to, given Glu's recent form with the genre.

Other titles Glu will bring to mobile include shooter Operation Flashpoint and footie management sim LMA Manager.

Matt Davies, director of Codemasters Mobile, hinted that there could be some interesting mobile-to-console technology in the works, too.

"Codemasters will focus its development expertise in embracing wireless as the functionality between formats to add to the overall gaming experience," he teased.

The agreement extends an existing partnership, which will see Glu publish the mobile edition of Brian Lara International Cricket 2007.

First out of the new games though will be LMA Manager 2008. Based on the UK chart-topping official League Managers Association football management game for PC and console, LMA Manager is due for release on mobile in the autumn.

"This new relationship with Codemasters brings an exciting set of franchises to our growing portfolio" said a doubtless broadly smiling Kristian Segerstrale, MD at Glu Mobile. "We look forward to working together to develop great mobile games and innovative ways of marketing them to consumers together."
