Bravely Default Brilliant Lights is switching off servers early next year

It seems like Bravely Default Brilliant Lights could not illuminate the path ahead for too long as Square Enix has already announced it will pull the plugs early next year. Inspired by the RPG franchise on Nintendo, the mobile spin-off will manage to survive just about a year.

Bravely Default Brilliant Lights originally launched on January 27th this year in Japan. Unfortunately, the title will not even see a full-scale global release as its servers will shut down on February 28th, 2023, limiting the game to its home turf.

It never actually managed to do extremely well in Japan either. This is what probably led to Square Enix making an announcement about ending services. They stated that the reason they took his decision was that they would not be able to provide players with a satisfactory experience, in the long run, something they have concluded after a lot of evaluation.

Regardless, this means that now have less than two months to wrap things up. There are some loose ends to tie up on the story front as well, and SE plans to release the final chapter and whatever remaining events are there soon. So, players will at least get some form of closure.

Also, while the developers have said that they will be shutting down Brilliant Lights’ servers, it isn’t going to be a complete end for the title. SE's ultimate plan is to release an offline version of the game that would allow players to access all features besides those that require servers, of course, meaning players would have a chance to play through all of the title's content, stories, and events.

Square Enix has said that more information about this offline variant should be available in the near future. Maybe you could check out the game’s official website to keep track of it.
