Fan voices have been heard as Rovio is re-releasing the original Angry Birds 2012 as Angry Birds Classic
The classic slingshot game Angry Birds has been around for over a decade. The franchise is humongous now with so many spin-off games, movies, merchandise and so much more. Numerous editions like Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds Space, and Angry Birds Star Wars have all been absolutely loved by fans and have consistently topped charts. But first-generation Angry Birds fans have always missed the original game. As time has passed, Rovio has evolved too, in terms of gameplay mechanics, graphics, features and more. But that easy to play and difficult to master gameplay found in the original Angry Birds is something fans have missed.
This eventually led to the #BringBack2012 campaign on social media when the original game was no longer downloadable. Rovio heard their fans cry out for the original and even addressed it back in June. And now, they are proud to tell everyone that the first Angry Birds game is officially returning to the virtual shelves as Angry Birds Classic. Angry Birds Classic is being developed as we speak, and it is bound to be challenging. The first game was made on a custom engine but with newer devices and operating systems it became impossible to maintain. Classic will be made with Unity so that most platforms can easily support it without much hassle. The game will, of course, have improvements to certain combat issues present in the initial game, but will mostly stick to its roots.
Fans will be able to enjoy the beloved Angry Birds game without distractions as Angry Birds Classic is going to be a premium title. No ads or anything, only slingshotting birds into pigs. Rovio is looking to launch the game by Q1 2022. Regular updates will be available on their social media as well. Looking forward to witnessing Angry Bird 2012’s reincarnation!
