Glu to take Age Of Empires III mobile

You'll have to wait until next year to play it, though

Glu to take Age Of Empires III mobile

Glu Mobile has snapped up the rights to develop and publish a mobile game based on Microsoft's Age Of Empires III. The game won't be out until 2008, so there's no details of how much it'll mimic the original's real-time strategy gameplay.

It won't be the first time Age Of Empires has gone mobile. Age Of Empires II was released for phones by In-Fusio in 2005.

However, given that In-Fusio is currently, erm, suing Microsoft after problems with the companies' deal to take Halo mobile, it's no surprise that Microsoft has opted to partner with a different publisher for the next game.

Besides, Glu did a spiffing job with the mobile conversion of Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing franchise recently.

The news is a licensing announcement so there aren't any screenshots available yet, but rest assured as soon as we clap eyes on some, we'll bring them to you. Click 'Track It!' to watch this space.
