Mobile IQ Trainer ahead

New gaming concepts are a bit like buses. It seems like you have to wait ages for one to come along and then a handful of the same type arrive all at once.

That's certainly the case with brain training. Last month we reviewed the DS duo of Dr Kawashima's Brain Training and Big Brain Academy, and already a slew of mobile imitators are queuing up behind.

First there was IQ Academy, then we caught wind of Digital Chocolate's Brain Juice (look out for a preview of that soon), and now Telcogames is adding a third to the list in the shape of Mobile IQ Trainer.

Due for release in September, the game employs a variety of logical puzzles, algebra challenges and spatial thinking tasks to calculate an IQ score for the user, and then challenges them to improve on this score by honing their skills with further play.

Sound familiar? Well to its credit the publisher does admit to being 'inspired' by Nintendo's titles, but it believes that a mobile release is capable of exposing the addictive experience to an even wider audience.

"A lot of people want games that are both fun and intellectually rewarding," explained Telcogames managing director Kim Shon. "Our game offers exactly this. The Mobile IQ Trainer game series will be attractive to a broad audience, appealing to a variety of ages regardless of the gender." (See, told you that's what they thought).

With rumours of PSP and Nintendo DS versions also on the cards, it looks unlikely that your grey matter will be getting any respite in the near future.
