Animal welfare charity the RSPCA has launched its own mobile game. It's called MobiDog, and has been developed by UK firm Lateral.

It follows the success of a web-based cyberpet launched by Lateral for the charity. "The next logical step was to allow people to access a similar message on their mobile phones," says the company's Mathew Riley.

However, MobiDog isn't just another virtual pet game (a good thing, given that there are dozens available on mobile). Instead, it's a collection of dog-themed mini-games based on classic arcade games.

The message is serious though, educating gamers about the Animal Welfare Act here in the UK, and how they can better look after their dogs.

The game is free, too. You can get it by going to the official website, or by texting GAME to 60022.
