Over on Gamasutra, PSP Minis developers have been discussing the differences and similarities of developing Sony games over Apple games.

CEO of Mountain Sheep (developer of Minigore) Kimmo Vihola seems to prefer the new PSP platform - at least from a developer's perspective.

"I think Minis is a brilliant idea and exactly the kind of thing the PSP needs to make it a really appealing platform," he explains, adding, "The QA process is much more predictable with Sony and their turnaround times are awesome."

Sony has previously stated that multiplayer and online functionality has been barred from Minis to help improve these approval times, and if that's the case, it's apparently working.

But with Minigore episode two on the App Store now, Vihola is looking toward the future and wonders if these restrictions could give Apple a leg up on Sony.

"We are working on co-op multiplayer for the iPhone version [of Minigore], and we would love to be able to add that to Minigore PSP. Currently Sony doesn't allow it, but I'm hoping we will find a common ground, and Minigore will be one of the first Minis titles to utilise that when [it] comes out later this year."

'Single player' is not a sales point in these connected times, and it seems that if Sony should lift these crippling restrictions, PSP Minis could become the platform of choice for jaded iPhone developers.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
