Might & Magic: Heroes Kingdoms free to play on iPad

Ubisoft has released a free to play strategy management MMO set in the Might and Magic universe. M&M Heroes Kingdoms tasks the player with founding new towns, and ensuring that they have the resources required to produce your armies.

From here, you can then battle thousands of other players (though presumably, not all at once) using the armies and heroes you raise from your settlements.

As with any good RTS, you can add buildings to your towns (all of which have an effect on the units available to you); gather resources, in this case by mining; and then go on to conquer new territory.

Interestingly, the game allows you to form alliances with other players, and even provides a market in which to trade goods and resources.

From the ground up

Anyone looking for immediate satisfaction will be somewhat disappointed, however, as the game isn't actually an RTS, and is strictly governed by time. Orders take minutes, hours, or even days to fulfil, depending on their complexity.

Thankfully, players need not stay online for the duration, and any issued orders will be carried out in your stead by your loyal subjects. This could be an interesting thematic variation on the FarmVille style of play, but anyone lacking patience need not apply.

And in addition to iPad, the game will also be available on PC and Mac via your browser.

In terms of the business model, it's a free to play game with subscription options gaining players additional features and unlocking the highest levels of progression.

Might & Magic Heroes Kingdom is available in the European App Store now, though US users will have to wait a little longer for their chance to try it.

You can get an idea how it works on iPad in the following video.
