Miami Vice cuts loose onto mobile

Get back to the eighties – just in time for this summer's movie remake

Miami Vice cuts loose onto mobile

Just when you thought it was safe to go outside in a sports-jacket, T-shirt and no socks, Miami Vice is back, both as a film and an all-new mobile game.

The movie is out later this year, starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as Crockett and Tubbs on the big screen. The mobile game is being published by Player X, and promises to be a decent attempt at bringing the glamorous world of Florida-based drug-smuggling to the really-small-screen.

According to Player X, the game will be a first-person shooter that incorporates elements of the film's plot, which concerns an undercover operation to bust some murderous drug-barons (not that there's any other kind of drug baron).

There will also be a bunch of mini-games to unlock as you progress through the game.

Miami Vice will be out this summer to tie in with the movie release. Click 'Track It!' to make us your undercover informant on its progress.

And in case you were wondering, yes there is already one mobile Miami Vice game. A top-down driving title based on the original TV series was released in 2004 by German firm Elkware, which is now part of InfoSpace Mobile.

Vice clearly pays, although we're probably not supposed to say that.
