Ignition Entertainment has announced it will be releasing Metal Slug 7 on DS this autumn in the US.

The classic 2D shooter is scheduled for release in Japan this month, and it turns out a Western release won't be too far behind. The game will feature the usual fast-paced, high-energy blasting and a familiar cast of characters - Marco, Tarma, Eri, Fjolina, Clark and Ralph - who are taking on Modern's Forces enemy army across seven brand new missions.

Missions play out across a range of locations, including Garbage Island and the Fortress of Ruins. New vehicles such as the new Slug Truck and Slug Gigant have been confirmed and there will be new weapons, bosses and gameplay modes included too.

Ajay Chadha - president of Ignition says: "Truth be told, I have a pink DS and was embarrassed to play it in public. Now with Metal Slug 7 loaded, I have no qualms."

There you have it - play Metal Slug 7 and onlookers will have no cause to question your sexuality. It's going to be one testosterone-packed shooter. You can read our first opinions of the game here. We'll keep you updated as soon as there's news of a UK release.
