Capcom has announced a sequel to last year's Mega Man Star Force game for DS. Number two in the spin-off series will be released in two versions: Zerker X Ninja and Zerker X Saurian. Depending on which one players go for, they'll then be able to play as characters Zerker, Ninja or Saurian in a battle against a host of UMAs (or Unidentified Animated Beings) and a new rival character called Rogue.

Each of the three characters available to play has their own distinct Mega Man transformations and can also harness the spirits of an ancient species knows as 'Tribe' in order to warp into three different forms. So Elec Zerker wields a large lightning-powered sword, Wood Ninja has a huge Shinobi Star and Fire Saurian is able to pummel enemies to ashes with fiery fists. That's got to have got you interested.

As with the previous Star Force game, Mega Man Star Force 2 blends RPG style exploration with all-out action as players travel between the physical and virtual Wave World on their quest. In the virtual world, enemies are battled on a 3x5 battle grid using a Battle Card deck.

The game promises several wireless features. Friends can be added to create a 'Brother Band' network then connected to via wi-fi. They can then share cards, status upgrades and even help one another to perform upgraded transformations. There's also a match option so you can play head-to-head.

Both versions of Mega Man Star Force 2 are scheduled for release in June but that's only for the US at present. We'll let you know when there's word from Capcom on the UK release.
