Monte Carlo: it's got a decent football team, a bunch of casinos, and all manner of night-time glamour. But come this June, it'll have even more to boast about.

Because on 5th June, as part of the Mobile Entertainment Market (MeM) show in Monaco, this year's Mobile Entertainment Awards ceremony will be held in suitably glitzy surroundings.

Voted for by a panel of esteemed and knowledgable industry experts (that description is In No Way influenced by the fact that they include Pocket Gamer), there are categories covering mobile music, mobile TV and video, communities and user-generated content, and, of course, mobile games.

Criteria for the games award include innovation (technical, creative or commercial – or all three!), ease of use, achievement of the original objective, 'quantifiable business benefits' (i.e. selling a shedload), and proven success in the market.

Entries are open now (click here if you're a games developer or publisher wanting to enter).

Last year, Digital Chocolate's Tower Bloxx scooped the prize, so this year's crop of entries have a hard act to follow. Naturally, we'll keep you informed once the shortlist is announced.
