Media Molecule is not a studio to sit idle.

Whether it's working on the gorgeous-looking Tearaway or teasing Vita owners with the possibility of a LittleBigPlanet Karting port, Media Molecule knows a thing or two about making quality, creative games.

Which is why an announcement in Edge magazine has put Media Molecule fans and PS Vita owners, well, on edge really.

Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans stated that in addition to the upcoming Tearaway, Media Molecule has a second, larger team of employees focusing on an "unannounced R&D project" that will "completely reimagine how people can create".

Scary, in a good way

Evans went on to state that while Tearaway brings the signature creative component of Media Molecule games to a "a much more gamey game", the R&D project will focus on the fundamentals of creative gaming and will redefine the process by which players engage in the creative process.

To sum up such a profound undertaking, Evans stated that it is "…scary, but it's exhilarating".

If the new project follows in the same vein as LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway, we know that we'll be exhilarated to see it – provided that it comes to the Vita.
