Marker Man Adventures is lining up for DS

If you played Drawn to Life on DS – the game where you drew your own character and most of the world around them, too – you'll know that you don't necessarily need a carefully designed lead character in a game. A gurning, blue-headed, naked one you've spent five seconds sketching works just as well as Lara Croft at the end of the day.

Look at Echochrome on PSP. All that's got is some line-drawn levels and a simple mannequin wandering around them and it's great.

So it doesn't concern us too much that Majesco's just-announced Marker Man Adventures features stick men characters (looking for a stick dog called Doodle Dog). The game's designer might have had a pretty easy time of it, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a worthy title.

Marker Man Adventures will apparently feature no fewer than 150 levels – or "scrolling world puzzles" as they're described as. Your job will be to manoeuvre stick character Marker Man through them, using the DS touchscreen for control and for drawing various shapes, such as lines, circles and boxes in order to get him from A to B.

These puzzles are set in a variety of environments (such as outer space, underwater and ice worlds) and there's lots to do in each, including power-ups and hidden areas to find.

Majesco plans to release Marker Man Adventures at the start of next year, so there's still a bit of a wait before it attempts to draw us in. Perhaps someone can beat its developer (Glyphic Entertainment) with a stick to get it out a bit sooner. In the meantime, click 'Track It!' to learn more about this one over the coming months.
